A few more ideas for Beauty and the Geek Penultimate Challenge Settings

Unlikely if this show will ever make a come-back but 2020 has given this post new impetus, even if the show might not come back!

I am personally not the one to know what audiences are looking for in reality television these days!

In the Challenge before the final winning couple is chosen Beauties and Geeks are thrown into a real - life (possible) crisis situation which pushes both the Beauty and the Geek out of their comfort zones! I guess you could say it's something where you are looking for deeper meaning & purpose and they gone on to build influence or leadership skill!

So here a couple more settings that they could try:

• Military Boot Camp - with a few three or four star Generals as Drill Sergeants! 
• Emergency Nuclear Bunker
• COVID - Response - could be a step later on into entertainment  for Dr Fauci ?? 
• Emergency Response Co-ordination Centre to deal with social unrest
• ... 

Some examples of Careers which are better pre-disposed towards Diversity

In the Finance Industry: To give you an example of a stockbroker (male) in a financial hub whom meets a female whilst out one night, eventually they enter into a relationship, marry, have children together etc ...

Simply by being in a relationship with someone in the finance industry (e.g. personal conversations etc ...) she learns about how to do the job and one day she goes on to become even more competent than he is!

This is applicable to other industries as well:

Judiciary - lawyers
Politics - politicians,
Government etc ...

Unfortunately working in Computers / Software Development etc ... has an underlying & more difficult to attain pre-requisite of a high standard of STEM!!

This will be quite some time and doing before any more major inroads are made and we start to see much more successful diversity in this field!

Making Dynamics AX arguments

When AX is up and running with all of your Financials, don't forget the Accounting arguments AX require a much less lower burden of proof or certainty:

than scientific evidence which is what you get used to when you are implementing AX.

Scientific Proof is more akin to the Balance of Probabilities, which is a relatively high standard.

Hence keep in mind:

• You only require sufficient information to make the case you are seeking
• You may not be able to get lots and lots of information anyway
• It is impossible to get all of the information anyway
• Dynamics AX arguments can be rebutted 
• ...

Disadvantages of Conglomerates ...

Conglomerates are bad!

The main (and key) disadvantage is that it is very difficult to track where all the $$$ is going!

I myself am not a fan at all of this business structure - Korean chaebols abound with stories of dirty $$$ and of course ~ who could forget:

University Courses ... a Career Perspective

If you're thinking of taking on a new career - be it your first or you are changing careers - 

here's a new way to look at University Courses, make sure you know what you are getting yourself in for!

Traditional University Courses in particular Medicine & Law get you to learn ALL the text books:

• Law - there are Lecturers whom still don't use slides / textbooks etc ... make you transcribe all their lectures by hand - 
• Medicine is similar -the only prop you have is the patient! 
• In Pharmacy - the drug dispensary, Dentistry is similar
  

• And the list goes on ... 

So worth it if you are questioning the commitment / study skills / ability etc ... you have - may be more worthwhile to look at other courses around which these days may be Private or at the very least, partially Private.

 

 

Primary Texts vs Secondary, Tertiary Texts etc ...

Just a tip, I've found - rather than diving directly into Primary Texts (NB: Primary Texts NOT Primary Sources) such as:

• Religious Texts e.g.
• Bible
• Quran
• etc ...
• University Textbooks 
• etc ...

Which are all generally very hard to read (and therefore understand);
 

Look to digesting Secondary Texts such as web sites, books written by 3rd party authors etc ... you will find this much more relevant to your everyday life!

The power of Re-selling ...

Microsoft has certainly done a great job, obviously they re-sell software themselves - but active re-sellers for their products is also very powerful, more so than End - Customers

One thing I would draw to your attention to is how they help their ecosystem Commodotise
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commodification arguably the most available & common way of reducing cost without reducing quality!
So this applies to Microsoft Customers as well ... for instance in the way they are able to use Office (as a basic example) -
A big advantage over Oracle where it is harder and costs are borne almost entirely by the end - customer.

That is to say Commodification is key and should always be considered - whilst the Executive doesn't really re-sell - at this point in time however a big re-seller has not really been tapped - the Legislature of the Commonwealth Government through their ability to enact laws!

That is to say we all know at a high level the Commonwealth Legislature has the ability to reduce costs without compromising quality (perhaps even taking a different approach to Commodification) even if this is still relatively untapped!

Just a quick point on re-selling -
Commercial Dishwashers can clean cookware squeaky clean probably due to their volume - try that in a home dishwasher! 

Integrate the A-League around the Asian Champions League

No point having a small and (relatively) insignificant league - at least on a Global stage standing alone - the future of the A-League (or Australia - New Zealand league) is in Asia and the Asian Champions League!

To this aim the A-League (or Australia - New Zealand league) should try and centre itself around the windows for when the Asian Champions League is in session.

A big problem with Professional Sports!

Its too simple and too much a two-sided market, zero-sum game!

And this applies to all Professional Sports - and there's that school of thought that Sports replaces the Roman gladiators - so that people don't overthrow their Governments! ;)

They probably also need to start looking a bit wider beyond a core group of players
downstream they have a wide variety of suppliers, journalists, administrators etc ... and the key group of course the audience!

Beyond Reasonable Doubt is (Now) Dead!

• Balance of Probabilities is a sufficient standard of proof for any offence!
• E.g. Murder, Assault, etc …
• The original reasons cited are out of date – that is to even out the advantage of an Individual vs. the Justice System
• Now many other avenues to prevent Abuse of Power: 
• Ombudsman
• Independent Press
• Representations to the Minister
• Beyond Reasonable Doubt is a very high (perhaps too high) Standard of Proof
• Accordingly, I have a fairly low opinion of the use of Juries

Test Cricket Special for Satya!

 

After 5 days a game is declared a Draw ~ WRONG!

 

• This is No Result
• If you were to award 3 points for a WON game, and 1 point for a DRAWN game … in the case of No Result neither Team collects points
• The game is not drawn, its void!
 

 

 

Play until each side finish 2 complete innings

 

• Need to extend the time limit of the game until a Result is produced!
• Test Cricket ~ around 10 days with 1 or 2 reserve days
• The bowling side has to keep the overs coming – penalise bowling side for slow bowling perhaps by adding runs to batting side based on an adaption of Duckworth – Lewis
• Both sides must complete 2 innings – add up the runs, whoever has the highest number of runs - wins!

Allotment Types on Time Limits

 

• Or alternatively make it 500 overs each innings
• It could be:
• Time OR
• Number of overs

You will then need more Players:

 

• Add 3 players whom are not permitted to bat, but whom can field bowl and keep wicket that can come on and off as necessary to take fatigue of first 11 
• Enlarge the whole squad to 22 players so there is a larger pool of players to choose from in a Series

In a Points Table

 

• Assign 3 points for a Won test
• In the future one would expect actual Drawn tests to be almost non-existent
• If a test is not completed assign No Points
• Cricket uses Net Run Rate quite extensively hence this should be used to rank teams if they are on equal points

Rain

 

• Need to be MUCH more flexible around rain
• In > 8 days there is close to 100% certainty some sessions will be lost due to rain
• Schedule Reserve Days

DRS & Technology

• The less RESPONSIBILITY to umpires on the field the better especially as matches are going to be for such a longer duration!
• Umpires should never be carrying any player equipment 
• This should be reserved for other members of team
• 12th man shouldn’t bother with drinks, plenty of other things for them to do etc …
